Why is our environment and our energy needs so important to us that we deal with them intensively?
Because there is no alternative!
As a family business that has been rooted in the region for three generations, we are aware of our social responsibility. We therefore practice environmental management to keep our impact on the environment as small as possible. In addition to the environment, the topic of energy and energy efficiency is of course firmly anchored in our DNA. We want to do our part to minimize CO2 emissions and have therefore been operating an energy management system in addition to environmental management for about a decade, within which we track constant improvements in energy efficiency and the CO2 footprint.
What does that mean specifically?
We are never tired of looking for and finding optimizations, we have set ourselves concrete goals for self-sufficiency with energy and want to significantly reduce our demand despite growth:
We have been able to reduce the amount of energy required per kilogram of material processed by 20% since 2019.
We have consistently expanded our own generation: With our 950kWp photovoltaic systems on our roof, we generate a significant portion of the energy we need ourselves. The systems are as large as 80 private systems*. This protects the networks and the climate!
For this purpose, we have built a hydrogen-capable combined heat and power plant with 1,200 kW of output, despite all the regulations, which supplies us with energy (capable of base load) and whose waste heat we pass on to the local heating supplier. The performance corresponds to approx. 100 heat pumps**
